A timed or random urine collection may be used, and a blood sample( SST,PST, red or green top tube)

Collection Instructions

Refer to urine amylase collection procedure if a timed specimen is desired.

Collection Volume

Entire urine collection, 5 mL blood

Minimum Collection Volume

The entire urine collection is necessary to obtain total volume and 6 mL urine. 2 mL blood to obtain 0.5 mL serum.

Rejection Criteria

Blood and urine not collected within 8 hours of each other, presence of acid preservative in the urine collection, gross hemolysis of serum.

Specimen Storage and Stability

Spin and refrigerate urine and serum specimens.
