If the fluid contains clots or tissue fragments, the clinician will be informed of the inaccuracy of a cell count and be given the option to cancel the test. Insufficient amount or improperly labelled.

Plastic container with lid, lavender top(EDTA) tube, green top(heparin) tube, or red top tube. Unnacceptable containers include cork or cotton stoppered culture tubes, tiger top gel tubes (green or red), and syringes with needles attached.
