Collection Instructions
Routine venipuncture or fingerstick-heelstick microtainer collection; gently invert 8-10x immediately to mix blood with the anticoagulant.
Rejection Criteria
Any specimen stored at Room Temperature >24 hours old; Any specimen storedrefrigerated >48 hours old; Hemolyzed, clotted, diluted with IV fluid, tube that is not filled with minimum volume, improperly labelled tube.
Specimen Storage and Stability
Specimen cannot be used if stored over 24 hours at room temperature or over 48 hours refrigerated. Specimen must not be frozen. Specimens should be transported to the Clinical Laboratory.
