Collection Instructions
URINE: Patient must NOT have urinated during the previous 1 hours. Collect 10-50 mL of first catch urine (the first part of the stream). Collected urine must be transferred to the Cobas PCR Urine Collection Kit within 24 hours of collection. Using pipet provided in Cobas PCR Device, transfer urine to tube, note black fill lines marked on tube. Final volume of the tube should be between the black fill lines. Replace and tighten cap and invert the tube 5 times to mix. Label appropriately. Cobas PCR Device may be transported at room temperature. See Collection Guide

Rejection Criteria
Urine > 24 hours old that has not been stabilized in the Cobas PCR Urine Collection kit; No order with specimen; Specimens not collected/transported in sterile/proper container; Specimen other than indicated.Specimens must be properly labelled with the patient’s name, specimen type, hospital identification number if known, time and date of collection, and initials of person collecting specimen.

Additional Information
Limitations: Results are dependent upon adequate specimen collection and proper transport conditions. The following are known PCR inhibitors: Replens lubricant, excess mucous. It is important to remove cervical secretions and discharge before obtaining the sample for testing. Also, samples containing greater than 10%(v/v) blood are unacceptable.
