Ordering Info
This test is used for women who have had no prenatal care, who might deliver preterm, or whose GBS test results are unknown at the time of delivery; CDC guidelines prescribe the administration of antibiotics intrapartum for women of unknown group B Streptococcus status. This test, if negative, can avoid unnecessary antibiotics and augments antibiotic stewardship.
