Ordering Info
NOTE: All HCV antibody positive results will automatically reflex to HCV PCR testing following suggested CDC guidelines.
EPIC Code
LAB868
Acceptable Collection Container
SST, R-NoGel, EDTA plasma, PINK (EDTA) plasma, GRN-PST, G-NoGel. NOTE: A positive Hep C will automatically reflex to a quantitative HCV test which can only accept SST / serum gel.
Testing Volume
0.5 mL (500 ul). This does not include the Hep C reflex test which requires an additional 1.5ml of serum.
Additional Information
HCV: Positive HCV will reflex to quantitative HCV. 1.5mL of serum is required. When HCV is reactive (low positive), supplemental testing for HCV RNA is recommended to rule out active HCV infection. HCV reactive probably indicates past or present HCV infection. Supplemental serological testing is not performed. More specific testing can be requested if indicated.
