Specimens must be properly labelled with the patient’s name, hospital identification number if known, time and date of collection, and initials of person collecting specimen.

Heat in-activated specimen; Gross hemolysis; Specimens with obvious microbial contamination; Specimens not gathered from below lipid layer in lipemic specimens; Pooled specimens; Mislableld or unlabled specimen; Specimens not meeting handling and storage conditions.
