Collection Instructions
Routine venipuncture. If multiple tests are being drawn, draw coagulation studies last. If only PFA is being drawn, draw lavendar tube first. Avoid drawing sample with a syringe or off of any type of patient arterial or venous line. Mix blood by gentle inversion. Do not shake.
Rejection Criteria
Clotted specimen, hemolyzed specimen, insufficient specimen, prolonged delay in delivery, specimen was not kept at room temp, specimen transported through pneumatic tube system, improperly labelled.
