Collection Instructions

For collection of urine specimens (Male or Female), use only the Xpert Urine Collection Kit with unpreserved, first-catch urine. Collect urine into a clean sterile container. Using the provided pipette, transfer urine into the yellow cap Xpert Urine Transport tube. For collection of endocervical swab specimens and patient-collected vaginal swab specimens, use only the Xpert Vaginal/Endocervical Specimen Collection Kit.

Rejection Criteria

Male Swab; Over or underfilling Urine transport vial; Swab not collected in the Xpert Swab Transport Device; Specimens received in expired transport device; Fresh urine > 4 hours ambient or > 4 days refrigerated; Urine in Xpert collection device > 14 days ambient or > 28 days refrigerated; Swab collected in Xpert collection device > 60 days refrigerated or ambient
