Additional Information
Repeat positive patients in 10-14 days and monthly as indicated. Elevated values of neonates should be followed up with studies to rule out the presence of maternal antibodies, by the demonstration of the absence of IgM titer. Single IGG values are not useful for supporting the diagnosis of an acute infection. Since values may remain elevated for years, a single high value does not define whether the infection is acute or chronic, nor does it mean that the clinical findings are due to Toxoplasmosis. Antibody result values from different test methods and from different test runs cannot be compared quantitatively. Quantitation for comparison of acute and convalescent sera, and the use of CSF, have not been validated by the manufacturer of the present test system used.
