For specimens used for transfusion – Positive patient and positive specimen identification must be obtained at the bedside when the patient’s blood sample is collected.

5 mL Adult; 4 mo – 2 yr, 2-3 mL; 2 yr – 10 yr, 3-5 mL; Infant, 2 full lavender microtainers
Rejection Criteria
Gross hemolysis, drawn in serum separator tube, requisition not signed by phlebotomist, specimen not properly labelled.
