Collect blood in green top tube. Do not remove stopper from collection tube. Refrigerate and send intact specimen. Gray top (sodium fluoride/potassium oxalate), Red top, SST top, or Lavender top tubes are also acceptable. Other specimen types: Collect or place in clean plastic container, close tightly, and refrigerate. Assay can be performed on whole blood, serum, plasma, gastric washings, or vitreous humor.
