Ordering Info
This test is for specimens obtained from cutaneous or mucocutaneous lesions form symptomatic patients. Useful for direct detection of VZV DNA in cutaneous and mucocutaneous lesions from symptomatic patients. Primary Varicella-zoster virus infection results in chickenpox (varicella). When clinical symptoms have been resolved, VZV remains dormant in the nervous system and may reactivate later in life, producing shingles.
